Last week with my art club we did Notan. Notan is a Japanese term which literally means "light dark harmony". We used "notan studies" to explore different arrangements of light and dark elements in a painting, without having the distraction of other elements like color, texture and finer details. So basically two contrasting colours cut out and stuck the other way round if that makes any sense. Now enough talk about what it is, let me show you:
These are two red and green ones. One that's christmas themed (left) and the another that looks like two transformers (top and bottom) and two spies (left and right). Now to the last one:
This one I think is a bit messy and I don't normally show these ones, so a first for me. It is more traditional because of the black and white contrast, but it's really just patterns
As 2020 comes to a close I am reflecting on all the different artworks I did this year and thinking ahead to the projects I'd like to spend time on next year. I'm interested in video art and I have got two documentaries that I am planning so hopefully one will be out next year. They take a long time to write, film and edit when you only have a few people to help, but it's possible and it probably has been done, so Yippity YAY.
Well that's it for this week. Remember to share this with your friends and family because my website is in its early stages.
And GOODBYE!!
Laurence I really love your black and white messy one, it would look brilliant produced by block printing on fabric!
